Theme camps are an important part of the temporary community that is Dark Skies. Theme camps are a collection of like minded individuals devoted to a concept. This concept, whatever it may be, is at base level, a sensory experiences - some appeal to the visual & aural sense, while others to the physical sense. Each camp is unique in what it provides to the community, but provide it will.

Theme camps come in all shapes and sizes. We ask that if you have an idea for a theme camp that you let us know about it with the registration form. These are the advantages to being registered as a theme camp:

• You get a reserved, premium spot on the map for you & your stuff
• Your theme camp gets listed on the Dark Skies web site so people can see where you are before they show up.
• Theme camps get to have amplified music (or at least that's the rumour)
• Theme camps can check in prior to the gates 'offical' opening.
• Theme camps get their own personal cabana boy/girl for their own carnal needs - which can be collected and traded like baseball cards.*

Space is at a premium at MOJAVE DRUMS, our new event location. Therefore we are requesting two major changes of our theme camps this year:

FIRST is that we need to know the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM SQUARE FOOTAGE that your theme camp takes up. This is not on a lakebed and we have to be very careful to not block the roads. We need to know the MINIMUM amount of space that you can fit in to and we’re not kidding about this, please tell us this when you register your camp.

SECOND is that we need you to park personal vehicles AWAY FROM YOUR CAMP this year. Once you are set up we need you to drive your vehicles out to our parking area past the front gate and leave them there until the event is over. We will make VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS to this rule. We realize that this may inconvenience some of you and for that we are sorry. But we cannot have a bunch of personal vehicles littering the site and taking up space that other registered camps need. We also have public safety concerns about blocking roads so please work with us on this and we’ll all have a great time!

As always, when you REGISTER YOUR THEME CAMP, you will have the option of informing us of your special needs, like being placed in a quieter area of the event or if you want to be right down where the action is. Based on availability we will make every effort to accommodate you because it’s you guys that make this event so unique. IF YOU FAIL TO REGISTER YOUR THEME CAMP you may get shafted and end up somewhere you don’t want to be, in fact if you show up unannounced we may not have any space left for you at all. That would suck wouldn’t it? Your theme camp, no mater how cool it is, needs to be registered and placed, or else it may end up ‘un placed’ and floating in limbo out past the front gate. ‘Nuff said?
